This is a very nice sweet bread/fried dough. It is served a lot during Ramadan. It is easy and yummy!
Cook Time: 10 minutes plus 45 minutes to rise
Makes about 23-25 balls
2 Cups of All Purpose Flour
3/4 Cup of Warm Milk
1 1/2 Teaspoons of Yeast
1 Tablespoon of Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon of Salt
1 Cup of Water
1 Cup of Sugar
Oil for frying
Add flour, milk, yeast, 1 teaspoon of sugar and salt to a bowl and mix until a dough is formed
Cover with a warm towel and let rise 30-45 minutes
While dough is rising, boil the water and 1 cup of sugar for 5 minutes stirring frequently.
Set aside.
Once dough has set for 30-45 minutes, roll into small balls
Fry in hot oil until golden brown
Drain on a towel
Let them soak in the sugar/water mixture for 2-3 minutes
Serve.

Alaykum Asalaamu,
ReplyDeleteI use a one cup measuring cup. This recipe takes 2 cups. You can use a coffee/tea mug, that usually equals about 1 cup.
The flours are basically the same, just the self rising flour has baking powder already mixed in it.
Is your dough too sticky? If it is, you can try adding the liquids (water, milk, etc) slowly and mixing it in to see if the dough becomes firm.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can help you with anything. Insha Allah it will come out nice for you.
Asalaam alaykum
