Recipe #2 for Somali Bur/Quraac/Cusheer
This is a second recipe for Bur. I thought it would be nice to post this recipe because it uses different ingredients then the first recipe I posted. So, if you want to make Bur but you don't have certain ingredients you can use an alternate recipe. Also, this one is more like bread and a little less sweet than the first recipe.
Cook Time about: 10 minutes plus 30 minutes for dough to rest
Makes about 15 pieces
1 Cup of Flour (more may be needed)
1/4 Cup of Sugar
1/4 Cup of Milk
1 Tablespoon of Baking Powder
1 Egg
1 Teaspoon of Oil
Oil for frying
Mix flour, sugar, milk, baking powder and egg in a bowl.
Mix well. If the dough is sticky add a little more flour and mix until dough is no longer sticky.
Add oil and mix well through dough.
Cover with a damp towel and let the dough rest for 20-30 minutes.
Lightly flour a surface and roll dough out making sure dough is not too thin.
Cut into pieces and fry in hot oil until golden brown.
Drain on a paper towel.
Serve.
